Who we are
kitcheck.cc is a free cycling kit calculator, operated by Ties Kuiper. Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@kitcheck.cc.
What data we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, fill in a form, or provide any personal information directly. The only data collected is anonymous analytics data, and only if you give your consent.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) records:
- Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
- The city or region you are in (derived from your IP address; the full IP address is not stored)
- The device type, browser, and operating system you use
- How you arrived at the site (e.g. a search engine or direct link)
None of this is linked to your name, email address, or any other identifier. If you decline analytics cookies, nothing is collected.
Why we collect it
Analytics help us understand how the calculator is used so we can improve it. For example, knowing which locations are searched most often helps us prioritise weather data accuracy.
Legal basis
We process analytics data on the basis of your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Analytics are disabled by default and only activated after you click Accept in the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage for kitcheck.cc.
Who we share data with
Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under the Google Analytics service. Google may store data on servers outside the EEA; this transfer is covered by Google's standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than understanding site usage.
Weather data
When you search for a location, the location name and coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch a weather forecast. Open-Meteo is a free, open-source weather API. We do not store the locations you search for.
How long data is kept
Google Analytics retains aggregated data for 14 months by default. Your consent preference is stored in your browser's local storage until you clear it.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold about you, and the right to object to or restrict processing. Because we do not collect identifiable personal data, most of these rights are not practically applicable, but you are welcome to contact us if you have questions.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
